Frequently Asked Questions
Navigating changes to your routine can feel overwhelming, so we have organised our most common enquiries into clear, scannable categories. If your question isn't answered here, please feel free to reach out.
Getting Started & Suitability
-
No, a formal diagnosis is not required. Coaching targets the reduction of symptom severity and executive function challenges, meaning we focus entirely on the practical mechanics of your daily life. However, if you do have any pre-existing medical documentation or psychological assessment data, it can be incredibly helpful for tailoring our sessions to your specific needs.
-
We want you to feel completely confident before moving forward. You can book a free 20-minute clarity call to discuss your situation, assess suitability, and see if our coaching styles align. There are absolutely no lock-in contracts, memberships, or subscriptions required, and you are free to terminate your coaching whenever you choose.
-
Yes, absolutely. Coaching works exceptionally well as part of a multi-modal approach to managing ADHD. Our client-centred framework prioritises your capacity and desires above all else, ensuring you do not feel overwhelmed by multiple interventions.
Our coaches are fully trained to recognise when your needs transcend the scope of coaching. If necessary, we will confidently refer or escalate issues to allied health professionals, or pause coaching for a period until you feel ready to return.
-
18 years old is generally the youngest age we take as a client. However, older teenagers just under this age may be accepted at the absolute discretion of the coach. Because coaching is an active partnership, it requires a strong personal awareness from the individual themselves that they are struggling and genuinely want support to turn things around.
How Coaching Works
-
Coaching is a highly process-rich, forward-focused modality where you maintain control over the pace, flow, and content of each session. While therapy often focuses on healing and processing past experiences, coaching empowers you to live life on your own terms by co-creating strategies, shortcuts, and environmental workarounds that are effective, meaningful, and realistic for your day-to-day life.
-
Following your initial clarity call, our first official session focuses on mapping out your unique presentation of symptoms. Together, we will list the specific challenges you face and rank them by how severely they disrupt your regular daily functioning. From there, we explore your broader vision for the future and clarify the goals you want to achieve.
-
All topics covered are completely client-directed. Your coach will ask carefully crafted questions to help you understand your patterns, build self-awareness, and design custom workarounds to circumvent the boundaries holding you back.
Logistics, Funding & Policies
-
Session Length: Each standard coaching session runs for exactly 1 hour.
Program Cadence: We typically meet fortnightly. This gives you enough time between appointments to actively test out your new strategies in the real world. If remedial support is urgently needed to curb destructive or maladaptive habits, we may temporarily shift to weekly sessions.
Overall Duration: A normal progression runs anywhere from 5 to 15 sessions. Your total journey will depend on individual factors such as your age, commitment to personal growth, socio-emotional maturity, and overall symptom severity.
-
We offer both options. While phone or online sessions provide excellent flexibility, in-person consultations are preferred as they are often more effective for maintaining engagement. We adapt entirely to your comfort levels—meaning your appointment can take place in a private office, a quiet cafe, a public park, or out in the open air as a walking consultation.
-
Your coaching sessions and notes are completely private and strictly confidential unless disclosure is required by law. If you are under 18, minor summary details may be shared with a guardian via email or phone, but this is always done at your discretion.
A support person or spouse will only ever be included in a session at your explicit request. In fact, coaching is designed to handle the stressful "scaffolding" of strategy implementation so that your loved ones don't have to, allowing you to enjoy a far more harmonious relationship with them.
-
ADHD alone does not typically attract NDIS funding packages. However, if you already have an active NDIS care plan, coaching can occasionally fit into the "Capacity Building" allocation, provided it is approved and managed directly by your individual Case Manager.
For employed Australians, financial assistance is highly accessible through alternative government initiatives—such as the JobAccess Employment Assistance Fund (EAF).
-
We operate under a strict 48-hour cancellation policy. If you need to cancel or shift an appointment, you must give at least 48 hours' notice. If a session is cancelled within that 48-hour window, the fee for that session is forfeited, unless we are able to successfully reschedule a make-up appointment within the exact same calendar week. This policy is in place to ensure all parties respect and protect the allocated time of the coach.
